Mushrooms
At the fall of the Albanian communist dictatorship in the early 1990s, part of the population rushed to the borders. This sudden emigration abruptly abandoned social services infrastructures, freezing hospitals and schools in time, which gradually fell into ruin, invaded by microscopic mushrooms. It was as if an explosion, resembling a nuclear mushroom cloud, had violently interrupted all forms of life, but ghosts of the past were still lurking. This is the atmosphere I wanted to convey in this series, paying tribute to a recent past.
