Transitions

This series is by no means intended to fit into a souvenir photo album for the newlyweds. By focusing on a wedding in Albania, I wanted to highlight the tensions facing Albanian society today: showcasing both extremes of tradition and modernity and also what comes in between, remembering recent traumatizing history and the recent explosion of consumer society. The Albanian wedding, as a mirror of today’s society, has its own traditional codes which are still very present, but which are gradually mixing with outside practices. This series reflects the somewhat chaotic opening up towards an outside world, the crossroads and its dilemmas.
